The word and prophecy – Part 13 | The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

In managing money, pride and arrogance must be dealt with. Money does not make a man proud or arrogant, neither does poverty but your situation brings out what is in you. A man who would be proud already has it in him before becoming wealthy or rich. Money only brings out the content in a man. If you are going to have riches and be prosperous in life, kill pride and arrogance otherwise, pride will bring you down to zero.

Money is not yours, it is a gift in your care; you must learn not to take money as your own. It is a gift that can hold only by the giver. All things are held together in Jesus Christ. If you are to continue in abundance, it must be by Jesus Christ Who gives all things abundantly. You should know that you are a manager or trustee of money. It is not yours; it has been kept in your care. With this understanding, the giver of wealth and riches will trust you to give you because riches and wealth is a gift.

“Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God,” Ecclesiastes 5:19.

Money has a defined purpose; the rich fool in Luke 12:16 was so called because he did not realise that he was a caretaker. You must know that it was given to you for a purpose on the earth. A blessed man has more than what he can spend, but if you don’t realise that you are a caretaker that blessing will come as a source of doom and destruction like the case of the rich fool.

The Principle of Tithing: God’s Covenant Partnership With Man
Tithe is one-tenth, that is, ten per cent of your profit. It is God’s portion of the result of your labour or investment. It belongs to God Who gave you power to do and the grace to make a profit.

“Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.

Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.” Ecclesiastes 5:18-19.

Your tithe is to be set apart before your rent, housekeeping, debt repayment, among others. It is the first of our income; it belongs to God Who must come first in our lives. It is the first payment we must make always before any other payment no matter how compelling.

It also shows our love and interest in the giver not just the gift. It shows not only our love to and for God, but also that we are in covenant partnership with God; it is God’s covenant portion. He is a shareholder, He is the owner and we are the manager or caretaker for what we have received or have. “For who maketh thee to differ from another? And what hast thou that thou didst not receive? Now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?” 1Corinthians 4:7. It shows our trust in God to provide and protect us.

The Bible says “…the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me…” John 14:30.
In paying tithe, we bring God into that which belong to us and make the remaining a no-go area to the devil and his agents. In tithe, we renounce the death in the harvest to enjoy the glory of the harvest.
Importance Of Tithing

The scripture is very clear about the importance of tithing and its relationship to prosperity and our wellbeing (Malachi 3:8-9).
